2010–11: Amenities Officer

Hi there. I’m your Amenities Officer for 2010–11, so please drop me an email at tscd2@cam.ac.uk if you have any questions about facilities, or JCR issues in general.

The job of the Amenities Officer is to look after equipment and facilities around college—your rooms, laundry rooms, the JCR, the bar, your gyp, your bathroom. If something is broken, you can email me, or fill in a Maintenance Request Form—or talk to your bedder, if suitable. If something is missing, or unsuitable, or if you would like something added, again, please email, find me around college (I live at Bene’t 24), or phone me on 07962030720.

Cupboard Keys

If you have a lockable cupboard or similar in your room or in your gyp room and you don’t have the key, please see Viv Newman, the Housekeeper, on U staircase. She has a large collection and it would be good to reunite the sets.

A few things to remember:

  • The bedders aren’t here to do our washing up. Help them out.
  • If you put your bin outside your room, your bedder will empty it daily for you.
  • Please recycle! If you think there aren’t recycling facilities close enough for you to bother with, or don’t know where they are, please email myself or the Green and Charities Rep, and we’ll see what we can do.

A few things I’m working on:

  • Fixing the table football.
  • Getting pool cues, tips and chalk behind the bar.
  • Sorting out the camp bed situation.
  • Fixing the condom and tampon machine.
  • Sort storage space for the JCR Committee.
  • Getting a change machine in the Beldam laundry rooms.
  • Making a cover for the pool table.
  • Getting students access to a vacuum cleaner. [This can now be signed out from the Porters' Lodge.]
  • Having lights installed along Botolph Lane.
  • Replacing the bins and clocks in the bar.
  • Getting picture rails in every room.
  • Getting an A20 on Bene’t Street Passage.
  • Having replacement bulbs available on weekends.
  • Getting permission to have personal fridges again.

If there’s anything you think I should be doing, anything you’d like sorting out, or if you’d like to know what I’ve been doing on your behalf recently, just send me an email, and I’d be glad to help you out.
