JCR Committee: Megan Housley

2006–7: Academic and Access Officer

With much of her life spent dossing around in her local comp, followed by sixth form in a school for wannabe musicians, Megan admits to being somewhat shocked to see, for the first time in her life, the word 'academic' attached to her name. However, having found herself in this strange position, she intends to make the most of it. In her 'academic' capacity she is available to give assistance, advice and support to any student experiencing difficulties with their work or course of study, and aims to make everybody who comes to her feel a bit better about life - a cup of tea maybe doesn't solve everything, but she'll certainly provide one if it will help.

Whilst the Access hat is on, Megan's job is to bring to bear her considerable experience of the British Education system on unsuspecting school kids and college students to persuade them that applying to Cambridge is a real possibility - that it's about brains, not background. This is in order that future generations of Academic Officers will have fellow students who need them, and thus we will all continue to feel wanted...

In case anybody hasn't yet aqcuainted themselves with the resident apparition in the pink poncho, Megan is an ASNaC who in her spare time has an unhealthy interest in choral music. If you need a chat about anything Academic or Access (please do drop by at any time), I can generally be found lurking in I8 or the usual social haunts around college.
