2013–14: Sports and Societies Officer

Hey, I’m a second year PPS student from New Zealand. As a Kiwi in Corpus I am roped into a range of sports, but you will most often find me on the football field.

My role is essentially to coordinate, organise and be a point of contact for all of the sports and societies within Corpus. This involves sending lots of emails haranguing various heads of teams and societies, so that I can publish fixtures, results and events online and in the Corporeal. I also work with Freddie (treasurer) with the allocated part of the budget for my area.

I really want to raise the profile of these sports and societies within Corpus, and also give recognition to individuals achieving within them. I’m equally keen to get people having a go at different things on a casual basis. Corpus sport is (for the most part) very casual, so if you’re keen to give something a go, email me, or the contact person and get involved!

My other main job is organising Corpus Challenge, which is our annual exchange with Corpus Christi College Oxford. This year we will be on home turf and ready to avenge our defeat, so get excited!

If you have any questions about getting involved, setting up a sport or society, or want to know who to contact within Corpus or wider for University level sports and societies, or anything else, I am reachable by email or will be in Newnham 14 the coming year if you would rather pop in!
