JCR Committee: John Lau

2006–7: Male Welfare Officer

John is a Third Year Philosophy student who is fascinated by, but also secretly subscribes to the remarkable belief in the healing power of tea. Alongside Catherine Scott, John sees the most important role of a welfare officer as ensuring that people at Corpus are not unhappy, as university life everywhere brings with a whole host of fears and uncertainties that can often be allayed by having someone to talk to. John also admits that this is where the tea comes in. Additionally, he relishes the duty that seems to have befallen the Male Welfare officer to pick up subsidised condoms from the CUSU office on behalf of Corpus students, but is keen to branch out into other areas, such as pregnancy tests and information on sexual and mental health. John currently lives in Old Court N4, and is more than willing to listen to anyone who has something on their mind. You can reach him on jml53, or 0786 328 8878, and he insists that everything will remain confidential. He'll even close his eyes when he's answering the door if you want him to.
