2002–3: Academic Affairs Officer

John liaises with students and college in order to secure for the students of Corpus Christi College the best possible academic support. University life can be very stressful indeed - it is hoped that the work of the academic affairs officer can ease this strain. Amongst John's recent projects are included

(1) The establishment of an intra-collegiate academic support network. The main thrust of this project has been to collapse the strange divide that separates the JCR and MCR bodies. It is hoped that this move will help to expurgate any felt academic isolation, especially amongst the finalists.

(2) A scheme looking to make available to students without computer access 24/7 a potential share-ware arrangement, whereby students will be able to loan a laptop (from a store of three to five) from the jcr. [See also Riccardo Amorosi].

(3) Regular formal hall and informal contact between the NCR, MCR and JCR bodies. This includes a dinner given for finalists considering the possibility of postgraduate research. [See also Ollie Currall].

(4) The introduction of philosophical and psychological journals into the library. Also the making available of a computer terminal for seated access to jstor - the online academic archive.

(5) The jcr body as a whole are supportive of a scheme to introduce regular and frequent lectures presented by scholars of all disciplines. This will again hopefully look to establish the academic communal norms, and a thriving intellectual environment, eximious, interfertile and successful.

...there's loads more stuff too, but he's bored and hungry. So he's off to the Dojo.
